Hardtobuy.com is a website that boasts products that one might find too embarrassing or difficult to buy in a store. Products range from body, hair, health to adult sexual aids.
The site looks professional, has a "customer service" page, return policy, detailed product listings and no pop-up ads. It seemed like a legitimate place to buy hard-to-buy stuff.
I ordered several items that were all listed "in stock" and shipped priority mail. My credit card was billed immediately. After over a week had passed and nothing had arrived, I inquired by email.
Their first response indicated they were waiting for one item. They offered free shipping or a refund so I replied, ship what you have, if it includes item "X".
Their next response indicated they had item "X" and would ship it and refund the rest of the order. At first they were waiting for one item to complete the order, now they had only one item - the one I had mentioned.
Another week passed without a shipment or a partial refund. My next inquiry was ignored. Finally after 3 weeks, I notified them I would instruct the bank to do a "charge back". They quickly offered a full refund but also claimed to have shipped everything "long ago".
Another week passed without the promised complete refund so I proceeded with the charge back. The charge back went through but I've considered closing this credit card account since I doubt this site is legitimate and charges may appear later.
I discovered hardtobuy.com when I was too embarrassed to buy K-Y jelly at the local small town store. If it is hard-to-buy this site had it. Everything about the site is professional-looking. Looks are deceiving.
