On 9/9/07, I took my mother's 2001 Ford Escort for an oil change at Wal-Mart. Later that day, I returned to pick up my mother's car. As my mother drove home, she noticed that the vehicle started to make a slight rattleling and banging sound. The next day, she turned on the car and drove it only 3 miles when the rattleing and banging sounds became extremely loud. My mother stopped the car and resumed to check the car. She noticed the vehicle had no oil. She added some oil and took the car to her local Wal-mart. They gave her a free oil change and said a claim report would be openned. The claims people gave my mother the run around and claimed she had overfilled the car with oil. They turned the story around making my mother appear incompetent do to her age and lack of English skills. When I try to contact the claim people their phone lines were always bussy and acted very rude towards my mother and I.in the end, my mother was left without a working vehicle. For a while, my mother had to rent a car and miss many of her doctor appointments. My mother took the vehicle to three mechanics and they all agreed the engine was ruined because it was run without oil and it would cost her $1,6000-$3,000 to get the car fixed. When we summited the mechanics estimates to Wal-mart. They said the car need to be put down and inspected by one of their own inspectors on our expense. "They claim they don't know when or what point the car was run without oil." I asked if, there was anyway they could pay for the expenses considering my mother is an older lady on disability. They said, no and jerked me around on the phone. Now, I am writing this letter to seek some legal advice and to warn other consumers on Wal-Mart's dishonesty and poor consumer service. Can someone help us?
