This situation did not happen to me, but to my mother. She had worked at Wal-Mart for five years. During these five years there were discrimination issues. But the reasoning for writing this is because my mother was injured and Wal-Mart did nothing.
A store manager, was heard saying that she just acted hurt to get money out of Wal-Mart. Now, I will tell you how she was hurt.
She was helping a co-worker get a patio set from one of those high shelves. The patio set shifted some how and ended up landing on my mother's head. Doing permanent damage. Think about this, a table and six chairs falling on your head at least ten feet, wouldn't you think that would hurt like hell? They waited until like 30 - 60 minutes for someone to be able to take her to the hospital, not calling the ambulance.
Anyway, she may have received work man's comp from like june-Aug, if she was lucky. She was screwed out of that, because the workman comp person for Wal-Mart kept calling her doctors and demanding that she be able to return to work. The doctor then told them that she could work 2 hours a day, for three days a week and that was sitting, not lifting, or doing anything strenious. How is she supposed to live on that? I sure don't see one of them offering anything.
She has then been told she has two bulging discs in her neck, and it is permanent damage. She has went through physical theraphy and that did not help. Also, she has problems remembering things now. That before was not a problem. She has gotten lost, in places she knows like the back of your hand. She did not have feeling in her head after that was dropped on her head. She has headaches and still has no feeling in certain parts.
I just wish someone would see this and see how inconsiderate Wal-Mart has been toward my mother. She has tried for disability, and guess what they tell her she is not old enough. But yet, anyone who wants to be on it can and to hell with those who need it!!!
