Complaint / Review
Nova Southeastern University
Continually violates the federal criminal code by failing to disburse student refunds from guaranteed federal loans

The university, acting through its employees, did withdraw me from college without my consent and without notice. They retained (kept) my postwithdrawal disbursement (which was due, about $2,066.00). Then they falsely claimed I owed them about $3,000, which they then claimed gave them the absolute right to retain (keep or convert) my earned college credits.

I report the following... Ronald Humphreys had a dream: to become an attorney by 2011. Following that dream, Mr. Humphreys applied for admission to Nova Southeastern University ("Nova"). After several meetings with Nova staff, Mr. Humphreys was admitted. Financial aid on both State and Federal levels was approved to satisfy the costs of student tuition. At one point during the education process, financial aid and loan awards payable directly to Nova, were either refused, declined or reduced without notice to Mr. Humphreys.

A series of events followed that resulted in Nova performing the following acts or omissions:

Limiting class registration;

Placing a hold on Humphreys continued registration;

Placing a hold on Humphreys access to student grades and transcripts;

Assessing tuition charges for classes Defendant Nova did not provide;

Collecting/invoicing amounts less than the approved tuition funding amounts from lending institutions guaranteeing Humphreys tuition costs;

Declining/failing to accept the total value of the approved tuition funding amounts from lending institutions guaranteeing Humphreys tuition costs;

Assessing tuition costs directly to Humphreys;

Placing Humphreys student account for collection;

Referring Humphreys student account to debt collectors.

Mr. Humphreys was unable to continue his education, through no fault of his own. The next series of damages to Humphreys involved improper debt collection activities.

It is important to note that Humphreys continually attempted to negotiate with agents of Nova. Unfortunately, the negotiations were not successful because Nova continued to assert that Humphreys owed amounts of money that were not actually owed. As Humphreys' damages continued to accrue, it became apparent that relief could only be obtained by petitioning the courts for redress.

By this lawsuit, Mr. Humphreys seeks full compensation for the actual value of the college loans, the value of the college credits earned, the maximum statutory damages and punitive damages for the gross and reckless conduct of the parties.

Counsel for Defendant is cautioned that Mr. Humphreys has worked in general practice since 1995, is considered an expert by many in habeas, civil, criminal, appellate and extraordinary remedies. Accordingly, you are to prepare yourselves to service this case as if it requires a "career attorney" and support staff.
