While renewing our Lease, the Leasing Manager was giving us nice deal. So while signing I asked the leasing Manager that if penalties for breaking the Lease could be waived then I will sign a longer lease. The Leasing Manager was nice lady and I had dealt with her earlier. She assured me that there will be no lease breakage if I had to break the lease. On that assurance I signed up 18 months lease and she went out of her way and company policies to sign 18 months lease.
Unfortunately I had to move after 6 months. When at the time of moving out I went to give a move out notice, I was told that I owe arround $3000 and when asked about the Leasing manager, i was told that she was no more with the property, and she was moved to other property.
I asked the current property manager to talk to the old leasing Manager (She had moved to different property under same management) who had made the commitment, the current manager refused me on face.
I some how looked for the old manager's phone number and talked to her. She remembered the commitments and she assured me that if the current property manager asks her then she will re-verify the commitment.
The new property manager never called the old property Manager. Withdrew $1800 (approximately) from my checking account. And reported to all 3 credit Beauraus.
I contacted BBB of Dallas, BBB Dallas without even contacting the Old Leasing Manager or confirming the facts decided that the Marquis at Waterview made a fair attempt to resolve the matter...!!! How biased, not sure if Marquis at Waterview is Paid member of BBB Dallas..., I wouldn't be surprised if they are.
