Asset Acceptance claims that I owe them for an associates credit card from 2000. I have been disputing this account for almost two years now. I have filed compliants with all three credit agancies telling them the nature of this debt and how asset acceptance have been violating my rights for this debt I owe.
The credit agencies claimed they have check with asset acceptance and that this debt is valid. Meanwhile, asset acceptance has been calling my jobs, school, and my family for this debt. This company don't have any respect for people.
When they call me, they use false names. They Scream at you. They say a lot of offensive things such as "you are a loser", "you are pathetic", "were going to sue you", "you need to pay", "Stupid BITCH"!!!
One day I called Asset acceptance for a validation letter. I told them that I was recording the conversation because of their rude bad behavior from previous calls. The representative became angry with my and said, "you can not record this conversation", and I said, "well I am letting you know this conversation is being recorded", they got all angry and hung up the phone.
They called me back two weeks later saying "this is an attempt to collect a debt and only for this purpose only". On this day I asked them to send me a validation letter, and they said alright, we will send you the validation letter.
When I received the letter, it was some BS with just the amount they claim I owe with a date, account number, name of place, with no signature. It was a bogus letter.
After getting this letter, when they call my cell and my home I don't pick up, because I had become tired of these people playing games with me.
Now here's where they have crossed the line and I am TIRED OF IT, and I need help.
One day in March of this year, I received a call on my cell phone that I have never seen before in my life. It was around 6:00pm EST. The number was 000-000-0000. Now, usually a blocked call would come up as private, unknown number or number unavailable.
I didn't answer the call because it was not familiar to me. Again, on that
same day, I was in Duane Reade purchasing some things, and the number came up again (000-000-0000). I look at the time and it was 11:30pm, so I answered it but I didn't say a word. I just listened out to hear who it was because I was a little freaked out.
I heard a female voice say "hello, hello, I know you are there so talk". I immediately shut the phone off. I said to myself, who could be calling me at this time from such a number. I don't make international phone calls and I don't receive international phone calls. So WHO?
All night after receiving this call, I was trying to figure out who could it be.
So I came up with the conclusion that maybe it could be a friend in trouble calling from prison or something. This could be a possibility.
The next day around 6:00pm, this number was calling me back. I answered because I was thinking about the possibilties. It was Human Resources from
American Airlines calling me. They said they were calling about the position
I had applied for.
It was a female. She said, she was calling to set up an interview for me but before she set up the interview, she have to ask me a few questions. She ask me my name, my address, and what days can I work. I answered all the questions because it was HR.
She than said, "the days you can work is Monday-Thursday are you available for those days?" I said, "YES". She said alright, we will call you back to set up a day for an interview when one is available. About two weeks had passed I didn't hear from this number BUT I did receive calls from asset acceptance a lot during Mondays and Thursdays, I just didn't answer.
In mid April, after not hearing from American Airlines. I called HR to see if my name was in the data system. The HR asked me for my SS number, and they
told me no your name is not here but would you like to apply for a job. I told them no. I am calling because someone had called me from your HR stating I had applied for a position with your company. It turns out that it wasn't even true.
After finding out I wasn't in AA system, I became really scared. I noticed that someone was playing a very cruel game with me. This have caused me a lot of distress.
I expected for this number to call me back because they said they were. They called me back a few days after speaking with American Airlines. This time it was a male voice. He said, this is MID-WEST Airlines, and im calling you back about the position you had applied for to set up an interview.
I said, "Who are you? This isn't the airlines because I never applied for a job at the Airport. Stop playing games with me. Who are you?" He began to scream and get aggressive because I was upset. He said, "Listen im calling you back from the last time, and is this ABC, XYZ?" I said, "YES, and I never applied for a job at the Airport." He screamed and said, "WELL WE WILL NOT BE CALLING YOU BACK" and hung up the phone.
I believe whom ever it was see that I had found out about it, so they were caught. This is why he was screaming at me. After that day I never received a call from that weird number again.
I believe it was asset acceptance because I had my cell phone for 4 years. Im not an outgoing person. I don't give my number to strangers. I don't have any Ex boyfriends. I don't get into trouble with the law or the public.
After receiving the these calls. I called my cell phone company and asked them about the 000-000-0000. If they can track the number. They said no they can't trap or track any blocked numbers but if I take it to the police they can assist them with any investigations. LIES!!!
I called my cell phone company again, and again, and again to ask for the details of all the incoming calls from March to April. They keep sending me the wrong details. They keep sending me January, February but NO March and April details.
It is now August and I still can't get the call details but im getting all the other call details such as May, June, July, and I just received August. I called my phone company last week to get the details and the representative assured that I would get the call details for March and April, and they sent me a summary of what I owed for that period, not what I requested.
I believe that my phone company is working with asset acceptance because first, how did they get my number? I never gave asset acceptance my number. They couldnt reach me at home so I guess they got my number from my phone company.
Second, for some reason they refuse to send me March April call details. They always send me the wrong details or what I owed for that period.
My phone company has been lying to me. I have caught them in several lies.
I did mentioned to my carrier that im having problems with someone making harassing calls so please help me with this matter. They know who it is, and I know they do.
Pleaseeee... Someone please HELP!!! I don't know what else to do. What should I do?
