I am a single mother to a beautiful 4 year old daughter. I separated from my husband only 6 months after our daughter was born. Soon after, I filed for a divorce and child support; that was back in Sept. 2003.
It is now April and I have still never received one penny in child support, which now exceeds $75,000, AND my divorce is still not finalized!
I have paid my attorney approximately $6500 already, to end a marriage that only lasted one year, and from which there was nothing to divide between my husband and I, due to the fact that we were living at his parents' house. (The only joint factor that he and I share is our daughter.)
This is a 39 year old man we're talking about, who still lives at home with his elderly parents, and who works jobs (carpenter/framer/construction) under the table, or just not at all. Is there anything that can be done given my circumstances?
