Cancelled my credit cards after calling to talk about a lower interest rate? Not over the limit and never issued a payment in 15 years ripoff Michigan

My interest rate was 24% on cash advances, I called to find out how to get a lower rate. The customer service person stated they do not lower rates for anyone. I asked to be transferred to a Manager, which he did, and she was mean, rude and told me if I had a problem I needed to go to a consumer credit counselor
because that is the only possible way to reduce my interest rate and payment. I told her I would consider that and guess what happened.

I received a letter in the mail cancelling my Bank of America card and my MBNA card. I was SHOCKED in that I have never been over the limit or late on any payment in 15 years but a shorter time for MBNA. The letter said they pulled my credit report and decided my debt to income ratio was to high and that is the reason they cancelled.

My credit score is 719. Even if I have a debt to income ratio to high, they are unaware I receive additional money from a trust fund. Can they just make this decision? Or Is there any recourse? Also, they stated on the phone, if I wanted the account reopened I had to apply again.

What a joke. Has this happened to anyone else?
