While owner/operator of "Rockland Restaurant", James was having a little trouble keeping up with bills. I loaned him $972 to cover his coffee bill for the week and he wrote me a post-dated check for the next day at the same time, claiming he was depositing money that evening. (I should mention my wife was working for him at the time and I helped out occasionally as needed). Well, his check bounced. We went to his bank together (a ballsy move on his part) and he was still NSF. After 2 more weeks of attmepts, he closed up shop one night and never re-opened. It turns out he owed at least 3 other employees/ex-employees a total of over $3,000! He bounces from job to job nnow, but I've heard he's opened a bar in Lincoln Park.
