I began receiving parking tickets for parking on my own property on jan. It states i am parking in the front yard.in less than a month, they have issued 14 tickets in error. I cannot begin to express the rage and frustration i have for them now.
The street i live on has old buildings that located very close to the sidewalk, only about 3-5 feet from building to sidewalk. This establishes the required front yard to be less than 5 feet. I have over 13 feet from building to sidewalk.
The los angeles department of public works bureau of engineering accepted and signed off on a class "A" permit to build a new driveway to park in front of my building behind the required front yard setback.
I contacted my city council district #13 office for their assistance. But they were not able to help me, parking enforcement still maintains the tickets are valid even though i presented photos and copies of the class "A" permit and application which clearly states "per building and saftey, ok to park behind front yard setback"
Even after i clearly displayed a copy of the class "A" permit on the dashboard with a note attached specifically for parking enforcement, they still continued to issue tickets. Do they not know how to read???
So now i'm forced to find street parking in my neighborhood which sorely lacks street parking. After all the time and money spent to create a driveway and parking area, i cannot use it!
To top it off, there are many residences (14 within a 3 block radius) in my neighborhood that have completely cemented over their front yards to illegally park and yet are getting away with it.
One morning, when i received yet another parking ticket, i drove around (6am) and saw that none of the people that have illegally paved over their whole front yards and park received any tickets.
Is there a class action lawsuit? Please advise.
