I am renting a apartment at 6210 Whitsett ave North Hollywood, California 91606 ran by the Management Company IMT Residential. When I first moved here 2 years ago I met the Manager Carol Hoffman who showed me and my family the apartment.
The Manager Carol Hoffman was so friendly when she was showing us the place and we liked the building and decided to move in but after we were in her friendliness disappeared.
About a year of us moving in here problems start occurring with vandalism to our car every time we would go swimming in the pool and when we leave the house and come back things would, be moved around or missing and pipes would be pulled apart form under the sink causing a leak that we did not have at first. I spoke to some neighbors asking have they seen anyone entering our apartment when we were gone.
Well this one neighbor informed us that she seen Carol Hoffman and the maintanence person Mario, she informed us to be careful because when you are living here for a while they work on getting you removed because this is a rent controlled building.
So If you move out they can up the price in the rent to a new tenant, the neighbor also informed us she had several police reports on Carol Hoffman for coming in and out of her home without a 24 hour notice and that her items would be missing.
It has been 2 in half years of misery for me and my family and Stan Markowitz the property manager has helped that happen by doing nothing about our and other tenants complaints about the Manager on premises Carol Hoffman who continues to harass, vandalizes our cars and enters our apartment without 24 hours notices he takes up for her and backs her up because he is a part of the dirty work that goes on around here.
I wish I would have knowed what I know now because I would have never moved here. Tenants are moving out left and right because of the harrassing and vadalism occurring here which usually happens If they have been here for awhile or If they have words with Carol Hoffman.
I could not afford to move thats why I am still here battling with these people. I have been harrassed at work by Carol Hoffman she called my job about 13 times because she could not get in my apartment so she pretends there is a plumbing emergency,
So that she won't have to give 24 hour notices to enter she uses the guy Mario who fixes things here to help her with her lies, I change my locks because I got so tired of her coming in my apartment when I was at work, of course you have to give a key to the Manager on premises which I was informed rudely by Property
Manager Stan Markowitz that he would have my door knocked down If she could not get a key not caring about the reports of her harassment I had to leave work early and I worked way across town to rush home regarding this emergency plumbing problem and there was not one!
I recently have started working from home because I cannot trust leaving my apartment unattended this Idiot Carol Hoffman is out of control and taken advantage of her position and is being praised for her harrassing tatics to the tenants.
My upstairs neighbor received a message on her machine that was meant for Carol Hoffman praising her for using spying, harrassing vandalism tatics the caller says they were IMT Residential and they wanted her to keep up the great work.
They did not even realize they had the wrong number. Since then my neighbor is moving at the end of this month and I will be moving as soon as I find a new place because I can't take this nonsense anymore.
They have gotten my rent money since I came here I always payed on time bothering no one and I even payed a few cents over making the rent I owed even to the dollar and never seen a statement reflecting the difference on a invoice.
I asked for Cameras to be put in the carport Stan Markowitz the Property Manager informed me that would never happen because the ownwers would be against it it is a liability I really think that they would see Carol Hoffman and her helpers on tape vadalizing the cars and they don't want to see that.
The police informed us that they can't do anything unless they see Carol Hoffman on tape or a picture of her and helpers vandalizing the cars or a witness stating they seen her doing it there have been broken windows, scratches, flat tires missing items out of my home.
I am just so frustrated and tired of nothing being done about this situation I think it is a shame, that the Property Manager Stan Markowitz is the only person you can talk to and there is no one over him to address these things to I have contacted Housing Authorites, North Hollywood Police department nothing has been done.
And talking to the Property Manager Stan Markowitz has never helped he tries to switch everything around on my family because he is in it with Carol Hoffman IMT Residential and the Mario the plumber.
To moved is going to cost me a lot of money I did not have and I will have to get because I cannot stay here any longer and be a prisoner in my own aprtment this is CRAZY.
Stan Markowitz is even following my Husband around when he walks to the store we even park on another street now and my Husband see's Stan Markowitz riding around in his red truck looking at my husbands every move instead of helping his tenants he is assisting with the harassment I cannot believe how crazy this whole IMT Residential Company is for having people like this work for them.
As far as I am concerned I have been ripped off harrassed and I should not have to give a 30 day notice to move after all I am the victim here, and from what I understand these Management Companys will even put you on a list with the renters or homeowners association so that no one else will want to rent to you when they dislike you because you spoke up.
I would advised anyone looking for an apartment to get referred by a friend before moving in one and what ever you do If you are in the NORTH HOLLYWOOD area BEWARE of apartments for rent at 6210 WHITSETT AVE, NORTH HOLLYWOOD CALIFORNIA 91606 and any that have Management Company signs that say IMT RESIDENTIAL.
They will get your money and harrass and vandalize your car and enter your home without 24 hour emergencies and lie on you to the MANAGEMENT Company all of this after they have been getting your money what a RIP OFF!!!
If anyone have any helpful suggestions or comments please respond it would be greatly appreciate legal suggestions on not legal.
