After submitting a termination letter to the rental office, I inquired about moving out a few days earlier than I originally advised to save money. St. Tropez office mgr confirmed this was allowable. I worked extensively to exit the apartment almost a week earlier on Sat, June 3. Regardless, I was charged until Thursday, June 8 (the original date).
In addition, earlier during my lease I asked permission to paint walls. I was told by office mgr it was ok. I was never advised that if i didn't repaint the walls to their original color I would be charged $25.00 "per wall" to repaint after I moved out. You see they repaint the apartments everytime someone moves. I know this because I rented two different apts. There in 4.5 years.
They should have at least warned me about the re-painting fee then I would have re-painted the walls versus moving out earlier on June 3, especially since they were charging me until the June 8. After all I had plenty of time to purchase a couple of gallons of paint, paint the walls myself and save $175.00.
I complained to them and to the BBB asking for proof in the rental contract about the fees. They never produced proof about $25 per wall fees. The BBB advised they couldn't force them to reimburse me.
I understand that St. Tropez Apts is in the business of earning income; however it's a shame that a tenant of great standing, such as myself, has been subjected to this sort of treatment. This reminds me of how LARGE companies bully consumers.
! To think that I rented from the Graham Company for more than 4 years!
