In 1997, I sent my son to Florida to stay with my brother and sister down there for one Sememster. My was left in August and returned in December. I have school records from New York and everything. I have stubs that I sent my brother money. Unbeknownst to me, my brother filed for Welfare in Florida, and they came after me for child support for 4 years! I had warrants out for New York State and everything.
Turns out that I got them vacated after 4 years because I was not at fault and I had proof, school records that my son was with me. I had to email the head person at child support enforcement and the Mayor's office to FINALLY get it straightened out. After I emailed them two, A WEEK, it was vacated.
Turns out - I go check my credit report, there is one of the warrants on my credit report. Even though it was VACATED, they managed to get it on there. I sent a letter to TransUnion along with copies of the Vacated warrant, their reply-It's not our problem take it up with New York State.
Sent the copy of the credit report and vacated warrant to New York State - Get a reply, They don't handle credit reports and cannot remove it.
What kind of bull is that? This happened over 9 years ago and it's STILL on my credit report. Not that it matters because my credit is shot, but with that on there, someone said that any judgement from a state on your report is bad and I will never even be considered for credit because of it. And apparently you can't get rid of it.
How's that for dilemma.
