Due to the weird child support laws in New York, Suffolk County has made a derogatory entry on my credit history. Although I am paying the court ordered support and the amount for the arrears they are saying that I have not paid anything. The state of New York wants the arrears paid in one lump sum even though the magistrate levied an amount to clear the arrears. The support plus the arrears is being taken directly from my salary, so there is no way I am not paying the support. At this time I do not have $2,600.00 (two thousand six hundred) to send to the child's mother (the child is 20 (twenty) years old and at last report was working full time). Even if I wanted to borrow the money to clear the arrears I would be charged at a significantly higher interest rate due to the NYCSE's actions to screw my credit.
