It took me five years of trying to finally get a copy of my free annual credit report from TransUnion. But first, I had to contact my Senator's office for assistance. Unbelievable! And now that I finally have the credit report in hand, it is reporting a judgement against me by the predatory Asset Acceptance, a judgement that was vacated by the judge. I was sued past the statute of limitations first of all for a secured credit card with a limit of two hundred and fifty dollars. They never returned my $250 deposit after I closed the card.
Anyway, this judgement that Asset Acceptance got —which was vacated by the judge and which Asset Acceptance then voluntarily dismisssed with prejudice in 2007 is still being reported by TransUnion in 2011. This is after I told Experian to correct the same mistake on my Experian credit report in 2009. I complained to the FTC for all the good it does. It seems like the government protects only those who are too big to fail. Now why do these CRAs get away with this #$%. Supposedly there are laws to protect consumers from abuse. Credit reporting agencies ignore the law, debt collectors ignore the law—who is minding the American store?
