Complaint / Review
Arlington Central School
Not allowed access to your child's records

Parents of students in New York State Public schools should be aware that even if you file a Freedom of Information Act form to see your child's records, you will not be able to see them. If you ask questions about why, you are laughed at or they will make an off remark to insult you. File another form with the State? Sounds good, until you try to get any help from New York State. They will not speak to you or help you in any way. I've tried, repeatedly. Even if they did send something I would not receive it because N. Y will not honor the address That Dutchess County forced us to change ours to in 1999. They will not issue a new one or tell us that it is ours. Dutchess says? That is our only address. So if this happens to you and the school denies you access file a complaint in Washington, DC with the Education Department. They cannot do New York's job BUT they will keep your complaint ON FILE and issue you a complaint number and you can report back with your other problems. They are very helpful and instead of belittling parents they try to help you. Unlike New York where every parent is below the schools so called standards. Standards that they create. If you don't fit in, too bad. They will not give you information. Even if you show them paperwork that something is wrong, they will laugh. No parent or child in a public school system deserves to be humiliated by school personal. The TAX PAYERS pay their saleries. They are accountable to PARENTS, not the other way around.
