PRIMERICA a Member Of Citigroup ripoff - you shouldn't have to pay to get a job!

Thank you consumer complaints! I fell for Primerica's scam to be a financial planner, but read other reports from you before they charged my credit card.

I knew it was too good to be true. They called me at work and said that they had been referred to me. I went for the interview (in a strip mall between a cigarette store and video store). They wanted me to come back for a second interview with the regional vice president - great i thought! Then I found out it was a group interview... Wierd, I thought.

At the group interview - we had to clap for each presenter as they told us how Primerica is a member of CitiGroup - how their goal is to help the middle class "working poor" and how we could make tons of money. Of course all we had to do was pay $199 for our licensing fee to sell life insurance. (I know RED FLAG)

Several of the ideas presented made a lot of sense - they went over a lot of financial information that I already knew. I guess that's why I fell for it and signed a contract to be an independent contractor for them. At the end of the contract there is a spot to fill in your credit card info for the payment. I left that part blank and told the RVP that I should discuss it with my spouse before I paid - her response " they will be so glad that you did it!"

I know I should have turned and ran out the door then - with the contract - but I didn't. I really wanted a job that I could help others and I justified all the bull that was in the videos they had shown us.

Luckily, I signed on Friday, and by Sunday when I found the other usacomplaints. Coms Primerica had not yet charged my credit card. I called and left them a voicemail to void the contract and not charge my credit card. I followed up with the credit card company and told them I had fallen prey to a scam and cancelled the credit card.

We'll see if they call me back. I am suppose to go for the start of training on Thursday...

Bottom lines
1. If it sounds too good to be true - most of the time it is.
2. You should never have to pay a company to start working for them (If you need a license - you would pay the board or governing body where you take the certification tests).
3. Check out the everyone before you give them any money or personal information.
