Primerica
Ripoff resume harvesting internet "management: " position

First off, thank you for this website. I was contacted by a representative from Primerica (about 2 weeks ago) to come in for an interview (last week). I felt it was a little strange because the call came in at 5:30pm (past working hours) and the interview was scheduled for 6:00pm (again, past working hours).

The representative, Effrain, said he was calling from Primerica, part of CitiGroup. He went off and spat out some facts and figures about the size of CitiGroup, their financial resources, etc. He asked me if I was still looking for employment and what I was looking to do. When I told him, he said that they had a "position" available for a Financial Analyst/Management Trainee. I said that would be fine and the interview was set up.

I checked out their website and found it curious that there was not a "Careers" option listed. When I checked out CitiGroup's website I was able to search for Primerica jobs but, none came up. I was still curious about why I had not pulled anything up, but didn't think too much of it. An interview is an interview after all.

A couple of days before the "interview" I searched for "Primerica career" and pulled up this site. Wow. I was stunned. All the stories I read happened to me: resume harvesting, "management" positions, late night phone calls, late night interviews, all of it. Just to double check, I called my uncle, who owns his own insurance company, to ask him about Primerica. He said that he heard of them and he didn't have a high opinion of them or their tactics. He went on to confirm that they were indeed an MLM firm.

Armed with printouts of this website and the conversation with my uncle, I went home to cancel the interview (I would at least give Effrain that much). I got ahold of him and let him know that I was very concerned by what I had read and by what my uncle had told me. When asked where I got this information, I told him "every website I went to, actually." He said that those cannot be trusted. When I mentioned my uncle again, he told me my uncle was "wrong" (basically calling him a liar, which is smart when trying to convice someone NOT to cancel an interview). The high pressure techniques by Effrain went on and on, some I told him never to call me again and hung up.

Thanks to this website I never did go in for an "interview" which is really a sales pitch.
