In march Orchard Bank approved me for a credit card! When I received the disclosure notice stating that the apr would be 14.9%, and that the card would carry a $72.00 annual fee! Well, that changed my mind real quick! So, I never activated the card since I had just gotten approved with HSBC! The following month, in April, I received a bill from Orchard Bank showing that I owed $6.00. So, I called orchard to tell them I don't know what this charge is for, that I have never activated the card! The gentleman said to me that you don't have to call it in anymore, that they just activate right over the phone! I said "What do you mean"! I did not activate it purposely, because I was not going to pay the $79 annual fee! The guy proceeds to tell me that the $6 charge was the annual fee divided by 12! I yelled at that jerk and told him that that was fraud! I never authourized anyone to activate that card! He explained again that you longer have to call in to activate, they just open it for you, therefore making the decision for the customer to pay that fee! After I went off on him, I told him you can just close this account, I did not like their sneaky ways, and he said to me "MaM, I can get the charges reversed, so I said ok, fine! The following month when I had received my bill, there was a $30 late fee assessed, and I still had never used the card! So, I call back to see what that charge was for, and he had the audaucity to tell me that was from April's billing with that $6 charge, that had never been paid, and I reminded him that they were supposed to have taken care of that! He said our mistake, the late fee will be reversed on your next billing cycle! We apologize for the inconvenience! They are'nt sorry, they just try to rip people off, hoping that they won't catch it! The worst credit card I have ever had! You can never get through to a live person! I am getting ready to cancel my account with them!
