Last fall I was contacted by a lady from TP Supply and she gave me the story about the company moving and wanting to get rid of their inventory before they moved to AZ. The prices she quoted seemed like a good deal. The items arrived, then the invoice, and the deal was still okay.
Later on I received a call telling me that our back-ordered things had been shipped. I hadn't made any notes when making the original verbal order, so had nothing in my mind to say that I hadn't in fact ordered some more things, so, when the order came I accepted it. The invoice, if I remember was more in the line of regular prices - maybe a little higher, but I still wasn't real concerned, just knew I would not order anything else from them.
Then - a few days ago I got a call that they were sending the last of our order. I was taken by surprise and was in a hurry, so I still didn't question it... Until the two large boxes arrived. There was no way that I ordered the quantity of correctional tape dispensers or magic markers that were in those boxes! That is when I decided to go on the internet and find out what I could about the company... And that's when I found all these very similar complaints about the same scam. I immediately called the number and left a message on their machine telling them that I had not ordered these things and wanted shipping labels sent to me so I could send the boxes back.
Today I got a call from the company. I said I knew I would never order that quantity of things as there are only 3 of us in this office, and asked why I would order something way back in the fall and not have it delivered until now. She stated she had been 'out of the country'. Well - guess what, I remember her telling me that before, at about the time of the 2nd order.
When I asked her again to send me shipping labels, she asked if I couldn't send the boxes back and pay for it, "considering the circumstances?" I asked what circumstances... I had not ordered these things. She sure seemed put out that I would ask for the shipping labels, but agreed to do it.
In all my years of working in an office I've never been scammed before, as I always remember the phrase about if it seems to be too good to be true, it probably isn't true, and I hang up on people. This one sounded so legitimate, and now I'm as sure as I can be that the 2nd order that we kept was a scam too. Sure wish there was a way to stop them once and for all!
