The apartment complex I live at had started out well, but after switching apartments because of an electrical fire, for several years my air conditioner has never worked correctly. Very little air flow causes our apartment to be very hot during summer and very cold during winter.
Every year, it seems, the air conditioner goes out in the summer. Every year, we complain and ask them to fix it and every year we are left out to rot in the heat for days until they finally decide to help us.
Today was no different as we called the office at 12:00pm, waited all day and received no service. The office is closed now and we will have to wait until tomorrow for to be serviced.
The temperature outside is 103 degrees, which is legally life threatening, which means they must fix it ASAP, according to law. But apparently, this has not caused them to move any faster.
On top of the troubles I already have right now, after examining what are called the "squirrel cage fans" in the unit, I noticed that the fans were built incorrectly. The fan blades are tilted in a counter clockwise direction, whereas the motor itself spins in a clockwise direction. This explains perfectly why there is no air flow. The fans cannot pull much air into the unit and forces the unit to work twice as hard as others just to keep the apartment somewhat cooled.
This is also an explanation as to why our electric bills are always so high. The unit is forced to work twice as long as it normally would.
If I could afford to do so, I would file a law suit because I am certain there is enough evidence here to prove neglect and to sue for unnecessarily high electric bills over the past 7 years due to their incompetent contractors. However, I cannot afford to do so.
