Ripoff dishonest cheat lia

My 22 year old son was also a victim of the Glenbrook Dodge financing ripoff. He was driving through the lot on his way to the Auto Refinancing company behind Glenbrook Dodge, when a salesman named Jake stopped his vehicle in the road and told him he didn't have to go see that refinancing place because he could put him in a vehicle with as little as $250/month payments.

My son was soon talked into a 2002 Dodge Dakota Pickup with cab. Jake then wrote up some paperwork with the name of the "Lien to: described as "Generic Bank for Training" at the top of the page. This was just until they could find someone to give him financing. However, they took his title to his 1994 Taurus and signed it over to themselves as his downpayment. They wrote the trade in up on paperwork as $1400.00. This occurred on February 20.

My son drove the truck out of the yard without any firm financing. Being only barely 22, he was naive and thought this was an okay business practice. My son immediately called and cancelled his insurance on the 1994 Taurus and got insurance for the 2002 truck, even though he still did not have financing.

In the middle of March, Glenbrook Dodge called him and said his financing did not go through as planned, so he needed to come back in and fill out some more paperwork. Apparently his employer did not lie when asked if he was a seasonal employee. The finance guy, Ryan, told him to fill out the new paperwork and to tell his employer to lie about his position as being a year-round job this time so the financing would go through. This was on March 24.

By this time, my son finally told us what was going on because he didn't think this was right to do. He filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. They sent them a letter, but their spoken response to me when I called to check up was "did you get a lawyer?"

My son did not get his financing the next time around either because his employer would not lie. It was probably a good thing because a car that started out with $250/month payments was now up to $400/month payments at 21% interest - started out costing $15585, jumped to $27885 after 66 months.

My husband went to see the manager. The manager claimed they had tried to get the vehicle back from my son once or twice and he had locked it in his garage. My son lives in a rented house that has no garage. Then they told us we could not have our trade in vehicle back because they had already sold it. Then they forged paperwork that showed that my son only received $1.00 for his trade in and they only sold it for $25 to a dealer.

My husband argued about it some more. They did not have our trade in vehicle but they were not going to give us any money back. They charged my son for the mileage he put on the vehicle at $. 30/mile and said that that was the fair trade-in value of

His vehicle so we weren't getting any money back either. (There was nothing in the paperwork or what was said verbally any of the times my son visited Glenbrook Dodge to check on his paperwork or fill out new papers of this charge of mileage.)

How can a company do business like this and get a "satisfactory" rating from the BBB? I have never heard of a company selling something with no firm paperwork allowing someone to drive off with a vehicle that is not financed and then to be able to sell the trade-in vehicle. I'm not even sure if my son would have had an accident while driving the vehicle if his insurance would have paid for it. Technically, there was never any deal made. Needless to say, we're looking for a lawyer.
