This contractor asked for large advances before starting the project (red flag 1) come to find out because of his financial dilema. Performed 80% of the agreed to work on the inside of the house. Appliance he replaced charged 54.5 % mark up.
Outside repairs on home, contractor performed less than 50% of repairs and was paid 80% at his request. Parts of the job were necessary to be repaired and becasue they were not they caused multiple problems and costly repairs on the inside of the house. (balcony tile needed replaced and caused a water leak). We are still $3700 away from having the job finished he was paid to do and the additional repairs because of the leak. We complained about him being paid and not finishing the job and it cost us additional repairs because he did not complete the job. Contractor got a attitude and used this as a reason to not come back.
Out building repairs were paid in full and additional money for materials were paid. Some materials were paid for twice. 60% of work was completed and contractor was paid 100% of estimate plus additional requested money.
Shotty work done on inside of out building and had to be redone by another contractor. Outside repairs on out building were not performed but they were paid for. We have paid thousands of dollars to finish what he was paid for and to redo the poor repairs on the inside of out building and finish outside repairs of said building.
Paid contractor for all necessary permits for new out building and he only paid the county for a building permit, caused major delays and problems with getting building finished.By this time another contractor took over project because said contractor had not finished the home and other out building and we would not let him begin this new construction out building.
He used this job to briefly get out of a financial hole, took our money and never finished the job and went to work for United Built Homes while working on our home. Beware he has an excuse for everything and will tell you what you want to hear to get you off the phone but never shows up to finish the job. Our mistake was paying before it was completed. Con man in our opinion.
