I was completely aware of all fees, they were fair I think in that respect. When I ordered items I saw they were or crappy quality. I went door to door because I didn't have the money to buy in large volumes for flea markets and garage sales. After the member ship fee and the cost of catalogues I was pretty much tapped out.
Most people didn't want anything from the catalogue, the few people that did order things weren't exactly impressed with them. Even I had to admit to myself that I wouldn't buy the stuff. A few times I couldn't get orders in when they were supposed to come in, things were back-ordered or they no longer carried them.
I had the newest catalogues at the time and one of the orders I made for a customer came out wrong. She ordered one thing and got something else that wasn't even in the catalogue. The holiday sampler kits that were supposed to promote sales were completely cheesy and didn't promote anything but laughs. With me not making any money selling the merchandise I ended up having to pay the membership fee and essentially I wasted my money.
Also customer support was never available. I could never get ahold of a live person to talk to about my orders or about how to better market. Bottom line, if you've got a lot of money to put in to it the whole flea market idea might be okay if you pick and choose items that aren't cheaply made, if you don't have money to sink into it, don't do it, because you won't make any money, you'll just lose money.
