Sheer Cover is a complete a rip-off and their promotional company, Guthy-Renker, engages in unethical business practices.
Do not waste your money on this product, or get roped into a subscription from which it is nearly impossible to unsub.
I ordered Sheer Cover back in September and have received only two shipments, although I've been charged for three.
I finally called and canceled on December 16th, after seeing a pending charge in my checking account for $105.38. The Sheer Cover rep, Jason, assured me that this pending charge was for the three-month payment plan and that I would not be charged the full $105.38, just the one-third installment, after it was shipped. I explained that I wanted to cancel any pending shipments, along with my subscription, and not be charged for ANYTHING. He then reassured me I would not be charged for the pending shipment or any shipments thereafter.
On December 21st, I saw a pending transaction for $45.48. I called my bank and explained that I had canceled my subscription to Sheer Cover and have not received any product. The Bank of America representative told me the charge would not go through, but if it did, I could dispute it and the bank would credit my account.
Today, December 23rd, I discovered that the charge for $45.48 went through despite what the bank rep assured me two days before. I called my bank back and the account rep, Fred, made a conference call with a Sheer Cover rep. I explained to the Sheer Cover rep that I had canceled the order back on the 16th (which she confirmed) and was promised I would not be charged for anything. What she told me was entirely different from what Jason told me, however. She said I'd be charged whether or not I received the shipment, and to make matters worse, my shipment wouldn't arrive until 1-3 weeks from the time I was charged! She also said I'd have to another wait 4-6 weeks from the time I received the shipment for a credit. She then put me on the line with her supervisor, Karen, who just reiterated what she said: I'm screwed.
I am currently disputing this charge with my bank, who claims they're going to credit my account for the charge (although I don't believe either company at this point — they're next on my list).
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Guthy-Renker and the Sheer Cover product they promote. Unlike what is claimed in the infomercial, the makeup does not give one all day coverage (which is why I was initially going to cancel). And unlike what is claimed in the infomercial, canceling the subscription is not as easy as picking up the phone.
Guthy-Renker has made my experience so miserable I will NEVER order another product advertised on T.V. Again (although, shame on me for being foolish enough to believe ANY infomercial in the first place)!
