Carolina Water Systems, Rainsoft
Ripoff misleading

Carolina water systems practiced fraud, mislead, misrepresented, the product to us on 11/14/05. I informed them on 11/27/05 that I lied to by the salesman and they sent me directly to their lawyer. They know what they do, and are prepared. I had a plumber unhook the system, and sent it back. The lawyer stated that I CWS would dispose of the system by 01/01, but I would be finacially liable for it.

I have contacted the attorney genral of NC & SC, FTC, BBB, and American Finco (the finance company they have yet to responde to 4 letters. I have not gotten it resolved yet. If I do I will post a response.

Below is a copy of the intial letter I sent to the attoenry generals. The more I research the practices of the salesman, the more I know that I was mislead and misinformed on a number of things that I did not list on the intial complaints.

One day a telemarketer called my wife wanting to bring her my free Home Depot card for a post card she mailed in. She also stated that they would test my water for free. She sent the appointment up for 11/10/05. We had to cancel this due to them showing my house (It is for sale). She called back on 11/11/05 to reschudule, and my wife told her that right now was not the best time. She told her I would call back at a better time.

On 11/14 a salesman from CWS showed up at my home with out an appointment to my home sales pitched Rainsoft water softener. We decided to go a head a let him do it because they were offering a Home Depot gift card to let them do the demo. This salesman misinformed me and my wife of several things about the product. He misrepresented the product, and told us lies about it just to convince it was the correct thing to do. He told us we had a 30-day trial period. He told us this product would do things that we later found out are not possible to do with this product. He made out water out to be toxic. He did a test that had small granules collect on the bottom of a jar. We were all convinced to get it because of all the bad things he was telling us that the government did not want us to hear about the water.

We were lied to, and lead to believe that this system would benefit us in health, financially, and it was maintenance free.

I contacted CWS on 11/27/05 to inform them of what their salesman had done and said about the product that was untrue, and they were willing to do anything, but refund my money and take the system out. We do not want the system. We bought it under impressions that were false and misleading.

I have listed the information below that we found out to be untrue that he told us. The company still has not provided all of the things that the salesman promised would be delivered on 11/15/05. ($500.0 0 cash, Home depot gift card, and still missing some of the promo free soap products, order form for more products.)

*We asked him about a filter. He stated that no filter was needed. It did not have one to change. (The Unit does have a filter)

*Warranty was lifetime for everything. No service charges were involved with this unit. If something breaks, he said to give them a call and they would be out to do it. (This unit has a limited lifetime warranty on Manufacturers defects, and there are labor charges involved in service calls)

*The salesman failed to tell us that you have to add salt to this unit every month. He told us that you put it under the house and forget it.

*The contract had a total sales price. He did not mention any finance charges. (We got a statement in the mail with interest rate of 17.99% threw a credit card company.)

*We told him we were moving soon, and he said we can have it moved for free. He said if you don't like it and let us know. You have 30 days to do this.

* He told us that our water was so bad that a rock about the size of my kitchen sink would eventually flow threw out water over the next five years.

*The PURE water system clears up Eczema, and other skin conditions. That it had cleared up his nephews.

*More people in NC & SC have more cases of kidney stones because of the sediments in our water. He stated that city water caused kidney stones.

*He then asked us is any price to much to pay for the well being of you kids?

* For up to 30 days the system if the system is not for you we will come get it, and take it out no charges involved.

*When you move we will come move it free of charge.

*My sink would no longer have the water spots that it does.

*He stated that my water had 13 tablets of chlorine in for every gallon.

* We would all be very healthy due to the pure water.

* The company would defer out payments until April

* The payments would only be 123.00 a month for about 2 years. He stated that most people had this system paid for in less than 2 years.

* The maintenance books have forms that have to be filled out by the installer. He failed to fill out either form for the product to be valid under Rainsoft's warranty program. We also never received the warranty car to fill out to send in.

At this time this is what information I have. We are still very mad about the complete situtation. If I have any other info I will forward it to you.
