I fell for it, Great Bend and Central Kansas area beware, magazine subscription or just lost $!

Well I guess we're among the many. Do you remember watching cartoons when something stupid was done, and the character's face turns into that of a donkey and you hear "Hee HAW, Hee HAW?" That's how my husband says he feels right now.

We were relaxing and watching TV when we received a knock at the door. Upon answering, we found a 20-ish year old male, who was very friendly, and started the spiel about winning the trip to Cancun. He said he had 18000 points and for the first time in a few years, a 'guy' was going to win the trip, because 'no offense, but the girls have been cheating, dressing up in tight clothes and flirting with the guys that answer the door'.

We thought about it for a bit and ended up ordering my husband a subscription, for which he received a 'free' subscription to another magazine, and ordered our stepson a gift subscription for which he also would receive a gift subscription to another magazine.

We didn't have any checks, but the seller "David Smith" was more than willing to go to the ATM with us because it would gain him 'extra points' in the competition. He even wrote on the back of the receipt card that we took him to the ATM with us, and had us sign it so 'it didn't look like he wrote it himself'. All tolled, it ended up costing us $94.00 in subscriptions that it now looks like we will never receive.

We were suspicious when we went back inside, so I quickly looked up Palmetto Marketing, Inc to find this. My husband jumped in the truck and went zooming through the neighborhood to find 'David', but he had already vanished into thin air, supposedly to meet up with his 'driver' who was meeting him on the next street over. We too, have the tag with 'Bug Off Losers 070' code on it. My receipts have no letters on them, but the same 070 code is at the top along with the receipt number.

I will hold out hope that sometime in the next 3 or 4 months, we may see one of our magazines arrive. From the looks of it, it's not too promising.

I've already notified the city PD, and tried to call the local news to report it, but they didn't seem too interested. We will be calling the BBB to file a report in the morning.
