I received my credit card statement with a charge for $169.95 to HDI Connections. I called to find out who and what this charge was for and was told that they had obtained my name and credit card information from a catalog that I had ordered from in 2003.
They said that I had authorized this charge for various discounts on entertainment, restaurants, airline tickets, etc. I was told that this was a yearly renewal fee. I have never received any information about discounts or anything else regarding entertainment, although they claimed that I had been a member for some time.
They did agree to refund the charge within 30 days, (we'll see).
When I performed a google search, I found several other people had been victims of this same company's fraudulent proceedure's as well.
I did contact the catalog which I supposedly authorized this membership from, and was told that their information indicated that I had ordered the membership on a trial basis and never cancelled it. I denied authorizing this trial membership, but they stated they did have a "partnership" with this company and were selling these services. They agreed to also look into a full refund. So... I think I was conned twice.By the catalog company that was never given authorization to place the order for the membership in the first place, and by HDI Connections, who claimed I had been a member since 2003 but, oddly enough had never sent any dicount materials to me.
