I ordered an air purifier from Oreck through a commercial on TV. They sent me White instead of Black. I called they apologized sent me another unit. I also asked to purchase a 2nd black unit. They told me to keep the white unit until the 2nd one arrived. They told me to mail it and I told them to pick it up it was their error. The return label was damaged and it took 2 additional weeks for a new one. They told me I violated the contract and charged my credit card $90.00 for a restocking fee. You can purchase an additional unit for $159.00 I would have just kept it and re-sold it if I knew about their rip off restocking fee. It was their error in the first place. I wrote a letter to David Oreck and another "read from a chart customer service representative" left me a message saying they were willing to take only half off the restocking fee.
They sent me the wrong color, never had UPS come for it. Sent me threatening letters saying my payment was late. I called only to be told they recieved my check and had no idea why I got the letter. Told me to wait 30 days it should clear. I get a hate letter once a month over the restocking fee. The latest letter said they demand the full amount of the fee or they are contacting a collection agency.
Do not buy anything from these people. The customer service reps have no training. They made the error they have it noted I got the wrong color its not what I ordered. Told me too bad it took so long to get a new UPS label and said pay or else.
Rip off... You can find a much better item elsewhere I am sure with better customer service.
I canceled my Oreck credit card which was through Household Finance. I will file a complaint also with HHF refusing charges.
