On July 13 I recieved a phone call that would not show up on our caller-ID. I answered it and this guy told me that since we were in a recent bankruptcy they got our info and are trying to "help us re-establish our credit" it sounded so good.
He said that there will be a $2000.00 credit card limit. It's a mastercard so I could use it anywhere I want, restaurants/movies, etc.
I guess I fell for this scam. I gave them my account number and he said that the card will be sent out the same day. He gave me a confirmation number and varification code.
2 weeks go by and nothing, so my husband asked me to call them and find out the status of our card, I call and I cannot get through. It sounds like an answering machine. I kept calling, leaving messages, and during the next few days I was calling again and FINALLY I got through.
I spoke with a freakin' call service who answers phone for 200 differnt companies, or so they say. I asked her if this company was a scam, and she said "No Ma'am, they are located in New York and it's a financial advisor company. We update all the info in our computers for them."
She asked for my 7 digit verification code. I gave it to her and she said your account was withdrawn and they are waiting for 40 days from the date that it was taken out of your account and they will send the card to you. If you have any other questions you can write to: Mr. Patrick Norton @ P.O. BOX 3588 Champlian, NY 12919 and he will deal with your file."
So after talking to her I had a funny feeling this is a scam, I typed in the name on google and got nothing. Only this site leading me to find out that this is a total scam. I immediately contacted my bank and the customer service rep told me that I am not the first filling a dispute through them and that they will refund me my money back within 5 days.
