The L. A County Music Youth & Music Program
Creepy and paranoid

This program may be fine but who knows since the man who answered the phone was rude and actually hung up on me! I was driving down Hawthorne Blvd one day and saw the sign. Thinking the program may be affiliated with the L.A. County Arts program (a legitimately wonderful program), I was delighted! At home I looked for the website online. The website has absolutely no information so I called. The man who answered the phone was terribly rude (and a bit paranoid, to be honest!) I asked about the program and he stated that it is NOT affiliated with the L.A. County Arts program. He said that beginner guitar and piano lessons are free for kids 5-12. This is wonderful but when I asked how they were funded he stated that it's "privately funded" and when asked if it's a non-profit stated, "it doesn't' matter." He stated that since he didn't know who I am he a refused to "go into it" and hung up on me!
Shocked, I called back and tried to get some understanding of what he could possibly be worried about. Furthermore, I identified myself as simply a mom seeking information about their program as my kids are currently music students. I shared that my son, a music major home for the holidays from college, is looking to possibly volunteer during that time.
With that the man (who never did identify himself) said, "let's leave it at that" (Huh?) and then hung up on me again. (What the what???)

This guy sounds creepy. What man offers free lessons to small children and doesn't expect a parent to ask questions! Eeeewww! Beware!!!
