I paid for AppleCare support for my iMac. I called an Apple phone number for help. I will never understand how I was transferred to a MYTECHHELP Tech Rep. I thought I was talking to AppleCare. I explained my problem. He said he couldn't help me unless I paid for MyTechHelp. I asked why I needed to do that if I had paid for AppleCare. He said that covered only hardware. I was in panic because I thought I had been hacked for my credit card info and passwords. I gave him my credit card number and was charged $250 (with $50 rebate in 16 weeks). He took over my computer and took forever to find a fix. It turned out to be a simple restart.in the process he said I had to buy a virus software package so he could do a virus check. I had to give him my credit card number for TECHZILLA antivirus software. He said he would send me a "redemption" e-mail to remove this charge. Later, after a LOT of nasty conversation with MYTECHHELP customer service, they agreed to refund the TECHZILLA charge but not the $199.99 MYTECHHELP charge. I said I wanted to cancel the service. They said OK, but I would still have to pay the $199.99. I received an HDMI cable from Techzilla and returned it unopened. MYTECHHELP rep said they would review my telephone conversation with the tech rep. If they find that I told him I had AppleCare Protection Plan, they would refund my $199.99. I am not asking for Scambook help in this case. I will not pay the MYTECHHELP credit card charge. I will do whatever is necessary to launch a credit card dispute. These people are scams.
