My wife and I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 each. Both freeze and have to have the battery removed at times to fix error. Contacted Samsung store told to bring them in and they may have to be sent off even though they are new phones. Closest store is 25km away hard to get too or can go direct to a repairer which is 50km away. Told if we bring it in they may need to send the brand new faulty product they manufactured away for repair at my inconvenience. Between then and now my wife dropped her phone and the screen broke. I understand that is not covered under warranty. Called up and the options were, take it to the 25km away store which will send it off to be repaired will take 2 weeks minimum, take t direct to the 50km away store be ready in a week or have it couriered. Like everyone we are extremely busy so I said we would get it posted. I expected a Reply Paid address or something to that effect. The result is I will be invoiced for the courier, I have to be home 8.30am-5.30pm for collection then pay for repair which will be upwards of $300 then pay for the courier to return it. 2 week minimum wait. I have heaps of local repairers that would fix it within a day but that voids the warranty so I am forced in to being ripped off by Samsung.
The disappointing part about this is I recommend Samsung to everyone I know. I own a Samsung TV, Blue Ray player and I bought a Samsung fridge and I am very satisfied with all of them hence choosing Samsung when it was time for us to upgrade our phones. Going forward (22 months til my contract expires) I will not be purchasing any more Samsung products. Their after sales service is appalling. Even charging for a courier is a slap in the face and the fact that the time frames are so large makes it even worse.
