I had gone to Petco to pick up some products for my cat and dog. I wanted to check out the cats in the adoption cages (highly respect Petco for allowing adoptions in their stores), while I was over by the cat cages, I could see through to the grooming room. I was a bit horrified by what I saw. The groomer was pulling on the dogs hair, I decided to continue watching. She then proceeded to shake the dog, I asked one of the workers "Is she hired by Petco?" and he told me "Yes" and was smiling at me when I said "Are you watching what she is doing to that dog? That is disgusting, if she can't handle the dog, call another groomer that can". He then turned his head and went to help another customer, he showed no more interest in what I had to say. I went up to the assistant manager and asked if he was watching, I told him the groomer was shaking the dog. He said he would "look into it, " he told me that she is probably doing that because the dog is jumping and he walked away. *During this conversation, not once did he make eye contact with me or stop to actually have a conversation*
I was disgusted and to see the lack of concern by the people who worked there was even more disgusting. I called customer service about it, thankfully they seemed concerned about it. Now whether this is because I told them I would not ever be bringing my dogs there or because they were genuinely concerned I do not know. The manager then called me two days later and tried to explain that the dog was biting the groomer. I did not see the dog try to bite the entire time I was watching, basically I was told that I didn't see everything. She then told me that I could bring my dogs and watch them be groomed. So I am almost positive all they were concerned about was the fact that I wouldn't be bringing my dogs to them.
Please look elsewhere, or at the very least stay and watch your dog be groomed. I only wish that I wasn't so upset about the whole ordeal and would have stayed to tell the owner.
