While trying to set up a prepaid phone account for my son my inquiry was hijacked by Jail Call Services (JCS). I was trying to log onto MyVConnect.com when the site for JCS appeared instead, I thought I was on the site I was trying to reach. I was impressed by the deals they were offering and quickly signed up and paid my "one time" registration fee and for the first three months. Only after they had " PURCHASED, ACTIVATED, SECURED and TESTED " my "new local number" did I find out that I was not on MyVConnect.com. I was told to open an account with another prepaid prison phone company called Global Tel Link (GTL) a legitimate company but was to use my new number and not to tell them that I was using Jail Call Services because they would not like it and refuse to let me use the number they gave to me. After reviewing my account I noted that they had listed the wrong correctional facility so I contacted them about this and was told I could change the facility at anytime by going on line. They failed to tell me that it would cost me $20.00 to change it. I have not used the "number" and do not plan to use it! So I requested that they cancel my account and mentioned that I did not change the facility because of the $20. Fee and since it was an error on their part I felt they should change it for free. Which they did but "encouraged me" use their services. I told them I was not interested in use their services because I felt it was a scam, illegal and unsavory. I once again requested that they cancel my account and refund my money. They eventually cancelled my account by stated "Regarding refunds, please understand that the number that was given to you has been purchased from our providers based on the level of subscription that you have selected. Our providers will not issue refunds to us once the number has been PURCHASED, ACTIVATED, SECURED and TESTED, that is why we do not issue refunds and keep encouraging you to use our services." I have continued to request a refund and have not heard from them in a week now. I am filing a complaint with the State Attorney Generals office also.
