On June 24 I called Westlake Financial to let them know I was going to be late with my car payment for June, due on 6-25-13. I agreed to have them deduct a payment of $259.17 if I did not make my payment before 6-30-13. I made my payment on 6-30-13 for $255.17; my confirmation number is 5978755. A second payment of $259.17 was taken out by my finance company, which they were not authorized to take out if I made my payment before June 30th, which I did. They are not entitled to 2 payments for the month of June. I was never informed by their representatives that I had to call and cancel the payment of $259.17 scheduled for 7-5-13 if I did make the payment. I figured the finance company would not take a second payment if they received my payment before the month ended, which I did.
They will not refund the $259.17; they told me they will apply it to my July payment due on 7-25-13. Bank of America will not help me because I had authorized the payment. They will not refund either of the payments to me. Why are they entitled to 2 payments for the month of June? My payment for July is not even due until 7-24-13. I got nowhere with my bank or the finance company. As a consumer I feel betrayed by my finance company, in that they never informed me that a payment arrangement made in the event that you are late needed to be cancelled by me and not automatically cancelled by the finance company. They see no error in not communicating this to the consumer. They only feel that I should follow it up and not them. I am only responsible for monitoring my payments made to them and not them.
