I am a single mother with a small child we live alone. I have only been here 6 months and have had my apartment broken into. My apartment manager is aware and so is the police. Since this happened the owner has still not made my apartment safe.
Many things are broken such as my stove and doors as well as windows. I really do not know how to fix the issues because I am not in contact with anyone but the apartment manager and the building is being sold.
The managers will not give me info on the current owner or new owner to be. I am concerened about many safty issues here and have no money to move. I also am afraid to report my manager for fear of even worse treatment with no improvment in my apartment.
My roof is leaking and water damage has cost me over $300. As well as my son getting hurt. I can't seem to get help. I don't know who to contact and wish to resolve the issues not cause problems with no solution. As a single mother with no outside help.
I have little time and little money to put into this matter. I am overwelmed and very afraid we will be harmed by another break in.
My door will not lock and windows do not lock either. I now can't sleep at night for fear of someone returning while we are home! My rent is due Jan 1 and am unsure of my rights can I not pay if he will not fix my apartment? Is it safe to report him? What do I do who can help?
I am really worried things will get worse with this weather. My son keeps getting ill and I am upset about all the water in my apartment.
Many of my friends and family are angry and say I should take legal action. But all I want is to live here in a safe and kept up building. I believe it could be turned around if the owner was forced to do the minimum safty repairs and would respond to me.
