The Illinois Tollway Authority
Consumer Report

My brother drove through 4 tolls in Illinois operated by the Tollway on March 16th. The car he was driving was registered in his name in the state of Georgia, but the car's title was in my name, because I had to co-sign the car loan application in order for him to get the loan to finance the car's purchase. I have never been in, nor driven the car.

The Illinois Tollway sent me a notice of the toll violations, and according to Illinois law, I am liable for those violations and any fines associated with them. The tolls totaled about $6.00, but now they want about $300.00 in fines. I can appeal this, but the Illinois Circuit Court of Appleals also wants about $300.00 to file an appeal, and I could still lose the case.

What kind of government can hold someone liable for the actions of others? How can this be legal? If the car was the cause of a fatal accident, would I also be liable even if I was not in the car? Only a greedy government that cannot control it's debt or spending could come up with a law like this. I am going to do everything I can to expose the Illinois government for the greedy entity that it is.
