I thought I was calling my server which is AOL because I lost my AOL download when my computer crash. I called 855—8328309 and 888-312-4070 thinking that this was the AOL server conneted to my computer to find out today may 9th that this is a third party company. My complaint is this they wanted me to pay 294.00 to fix my computer and redownload my AOL. I tried to wxplain to them I did not have that kind of money right now. I was told that I would have to pay that amount before they would service my computer. Fortunately, I was able to retore my computer. Today I called the fraud deptment because I was advised by the third party that they could not service my computer due to fraud transactions. I am reporting this incident because I feel that there is fraud being made to the AOL cosumers who think they are speaking to the company they pay there money too. Now this may not sound like a big deal but I farther like to state that if you are paying money to this third party company at some point you will have to give them your personal information. The third party company can take that information and extract money out of your personal bank account. If AOL is connected to these third party companies I feel that their clients should be inform of there services and the fact that they are a third party company an not AOL server. Please let me know if this is a fraud act I what can I do to protect myself in the future.
