Internet Marketing a/k/a Banner Toppe
Consumer Report

Banner Topper sent an email advertising that I could procure some "keywords" that would display above Google search results.

This is a total con-job. It's a shame that the technology was written to scam people out of money.

After I sent him a check for $1995, I had misgivings and decided to package intercept it. However, FedEx made an error, and delivered it anyway. Turns out the address wasn't an office at all, but a Postal Annex.

CLUE #1. Using a suite number on mail is very deceiving when it is really a PMB.

CLUE #2. His own references weren't well coached and my doubts grew more and more. I phoned one and she forget the name Rick told her to use. OOPS.

I was able to STOP PAY the check... But it was interesting to note that my "ad" was active for a short time. I was really hoping there would be legitimate traffic so I could be wrong.

I was getting clicks, alright... But when I checked my access logs it was all propagated by gettopper.com at various IP addresses.

So, in other words, they were generating the hits promised... Not real people.

His email soliciations don't comply with CANN-SPAM laws, and am not sure how we prosecute this dude.

Today, Rick Stevenson figured out I was on to him... Learned I stopped the check, and my account de-activated immediately.

Rick Stevenson is a sharp cookie and very smooth; too bad he puts it to such poor use.
