Person bought a laptop from me on Craigslist for his nephew. Asked to pay an extra $50 to ship it for him. I got an e-mail from PayPal stating that they needed verification of shipping before they would pay me. I didn't see this as unheard of, so I did it. The next day, I got another e-mail from PayPal stating that the buyer had to deposit an extra $700 into my account and demanded to be refunded via Western Union. I called PayPal about this. The person and their account don't exist. PayPal pretty much shrugged and said that was too bad. Now I'm out $500 because someone is parading around as PayPal and scamming people.
