I purchased noise canceling headphones at Brookstone airport store in Portland. The sales person offered me an extended warranty, and made the sale by offering me a mid-April discount on the headphones. The total package made sense to me, so I bought it. That was four days ago. Today I get a call from Bankers Warranty Group, a fellow named Jose tells me the warranty won't apply and they have to sell me a lesser one, because the discount lowered the price of the product. I said it was insurance on the value of the product. He ignored this. I asked how to just return the product. He gave me an 800 number, I called it, Desiree, the most apathetic person I've talked to in a while, went through giving me a return number, while missing the point that I was an upset customer, that I'd spent a couple thousand on one of their chairs a couple of years ago, and that I was inclined because of this to stop doing business with them. You could hear crickets. I'm done with Brookstone. They turned a good customer into a transaction, and didn't care at all.
