I purchased a boombox from Sony (model # ZS-S31P) which was designed with a dock to play my IPOD. When I connected my IPOD, it played as it should for a few minutes and then quit working properly. When I removed my IPOD, it no longer worked. I connected it to my computer and got the message my IPOD had been corrupted. I took my IPOD into the Geek Squad at Best Buy to see if they could restore it, and they told me the hard drive was destroyed and could not restore it, most likely from too much current being put through it by the boombox. Sony offered to replace the boombox but will take no responsibility for destroying my IPOD.
