I received a call from a person who told me he was from Microsoft and my computer had many contaminations. I did see many warnings — spent an hour going through the many steps to supposedly clear up this problem to the tune of $350 for a four-year clean-up package — a one-time cost. I was told the person's name was John Carter, but from his accent it was obvious that he was Indian. He gave me this number 866-936-7466 to call if there were any complaints — and he told me to contact [email protected] as another possible way to contact them. Late into this hour-long call I was then told the costs were from $228 up to $350 for the various services. I, of course, took the long-term one.
When I told them I had no plastic, they set up a pay pal account to get my money. I was assured that the transaction was "secure" and that none of my personal information was going to be used.
Now I am certain that I was duped and stupidly believed this person and his "supervisor" who spent more than an hour with me guiding me on my open computer through this program.
