I failed to light the pilot from my 40 gal water heater. Called Affordable water heater company for service. They quoted me a rate of $99 plus parts over the phone.
Technician came, and said that it needs a thermal cupper??? Plus a few SAFETY measures required by law... Such as strapping, pressure release valve..
The estimate came up to be $884, when I delcline the quote, it was immediately reduced to $618. I thought it was still too expensive.
I called my plumber immediately and found out that a thermal cupper only cost a few dollars.
If they are an honest company, they should have taken care of my problem at $99 for labor and maybe within $20 for parts.
The price they quoted was out-ragiously high. So I decided to pay them $99 for nothing and let them go.
