Andrew ("Andy") Wittenberg, 20 years old and a junior at Ohio Wesleyan University advertised on eBay.com a computer, claiming the item was "like new", "used only one week", etc. Based on his description of the item, I purchased the computer from Mr. Wittenberg.
The computer was filthy, the screen was covered with fingerprints and loose, and the unit's webcam (which Mr. Wittenberg's claimed the unit had) and wireless Internet card were missing. Based solely on Mr. Wittenberg's deceptive advertising, I was dissatisfied with the unit, and I returned the unit to the seller. (During a telephone conversation with me, Mr. Wittenberg offered a "Welcome to the world of secondhand electronics"; however, the unit was clearly not "like new".)
In addition to the $100.00 purchase price, I spent $91.65 on postage and $7.91 at FedEx Office; also, Mr. Wittenberg's behavior has caused me to need to spend at least six hours of my time addressing his deceptive business practice. $ (100.00 91.65 7.91) six hours @ $50.00 per hour totals $499.56; thus far, I have received from Mr. Wittenberg but a refund of the purchase price and partial postage expense reimbursement ($118.99 total); I remain owed $380.57.
My advice to all: Stay away from Universitronics or Electroverse, the business names behind which Andrew Wittenberg hides.
