Beware of, and NEVER try to obtain a "Free" or "Instant" insurance quote on the Web. It's all designed to suck up your personal information and get you Spammed forever.
As in the title of this report, all the major carriers are in on the Scam, Progressive, Geico et al. The most insidious firm doing the "Fre quotes" is yourinsuranceresults.com, a shadowy, elusive 'company' that has no contact information, uses bogus Email addresses, and acts as a "lead generator" for the major carriers.
Perhaps they trhought none of us suckers... Er, Little People... Would notice a major Spammer is
not only collecting dirty money for providing leads, but also selling our personal information to
major Spammers and data miners.
I bet yourinsuranceresults.com thinks they have the perfect money machine, making cash at all turns...
OK, so you type in all the information for the "Free" quote on about 80 screens and instead of
a Free instant quote, they sucker punch you with: "Thanks! An agent will contact you shortly "
If you were stupid enough to type in a phone number, Spam calls start, AND the Email Spam cranks
right up and keeps on rolling!
The Email account I set up to test this sort of thing must appear to the Spammers as heaven because, hey, the guy types in personal info all over the web. I always use some sort of coded personal info to identify who is selling the Email address to Spammers when I type in information for "Free" stuff like VistaPrint business cards or rate quotes from subhumans like Geico and Progressive.
THERE IS NO "FREE" STUFF! The are no "FREE" rate quotes. For free stuff you get scammed for a CC number and for Free rate quotes you get scammed for Email address and personal info.
Nothing is free on the web.
