Cancel collection! - dsl extreme line connection

I am not happy with DSL Extreme! I was not told last July that if I cancled before one year, I would be charge a 140.00 cancelation fee! I had to cancle due to poor connection!!! I expressed this to the person who signed me up. I told her I already had AT&T modem and it was slow. She told me that DSL Extreme modem was faster but I could cancle if unhappy! I was unable to serf the web for several hours and could not download files or watch videos! I switced to Cable because since I work part time from home, I needed a good connection. DSL Extreme has sent the 1 month overdue bill to collections without even consulting wiht me!!! Poor bussiness management. I even have a email proving that there was not mention of being charged a cancelation fee if cancled within a year. I am not happy!!
