On 8-12 2003 We ordered a satellite package from Allsat off of their web site that was listed for $99.95 It was a two room system with very few requirements (agree to a programming package, from dish network for 1 year) free install and dish network was to place a hold for $99.00 on my credit card for up to 30 days (under a promotion called Rdish) (note the Equipment was Jvc PVR 508/301 receivers) sounds good.
After checking out I printed out a copy of their page, because they were to E-mail me back with confirmation. It usually never happens with online ordering. On August 15 the equipment arrived in two large boxes. I opened the first box and there was a card to schedule installation, there was nothing else you could do with the equipment so I placed it in the garage until the install 10 days later.
The installer came and did excellent work, turned on the system and everything was good. He handed me some papers that needed to be sent to allsat and he left. My wife sent the papers off and we were enjoying the equipment, when we received our credit card statement charging me $178.00, I immediately pulled out the copy of the web site and saw that the charges were mixed up. So I made the mistake of contacting the Allsat Company (how dare you) The woman whom I talked to was extremly rude. She told me that my promotion was over and that there was now no way to look at that page any more. I told her I had a copy and if she would just explain the charge I would pay it. (she couldn't)
I contacted my credit card company and put a stop payment until somebody explained the price difference. This is where my gracious friend Ben Solberg (aka Sales Manager) enters. After Leaving me one of the rudest phone messages I had heard accusing me of being a crook and that he was going to have me arrested for stealing. I contacted Ben back and tried to explain to him that even though he was a jerk, if he justified the charges it would be payed. He became rude with me on the phone and insulted me even further, so I hung up on him. He harrassed my family several more time on the phone until I told him that if he called again i would call the police on him. He finally calmed down and explained that there was shipping charges for the equipment. I told him that he needed to add that to his site so that it was clear before hand and not some hidden charge. He told me that it should have been assumed because it didn't say free shipping (well Then your add for $99.95 should have read $178). I agreed to lift the dispute. That's when he told me that he could have charged me $295 for disputing the bill (how dare you question allsat).
Well they did charge me $295 $30 dollars for disputing the charge in the first place, and I will continue to dispute it as long as I breath. Isn't that nice.
Well Ben will probably rebut this but as a Law enforcement Officer in the State Of Florida there is no reason for me to Lie about this. The bill has been paid And I have kept records of everything so tell them your side Ben (Owner/Webmaster/Salesmanager/Whatever else) and know that anyone I can tell this to will hear it. Hopefully they will get better from you than we did. It's really a shame that someone like Ben can't be a real businessman.
