I purchased a Gateway Profile 4 computer on 1/27/03.in less than a year I had to have it repaired.
To my dismay, the computer could not be repaired on site, i. E the store where I bought it. I had to mail it to Little Rock Ark. For repair. I was not told this when I bought it.
I was told repair time turnover was 7 to 10 days after receiving the computer. My computer arrived at the repair faciltiy after 1/26/04 when I ups'd it and the end of January.
I have called Gateway tech support twice to find out the status of my computer repair. Gateway did not have a phone number for the facility that they contract to for computer repair, nor were they helpful in trying to obtain one and they did not provide one.
I called Gateway tech support again on 2/20/04 for the third time regarding my computer repair. The facility acknowledged that they had received my computer but the had not started to repair it.
When I told the Gateway tech. That I needed a computer because that is how I make a living, she was not at all helpful, interested or concerned that I was loosing income due to that length of time of my computer repair. She stated that it was Gateway's policy not to lone out computers.
My husband is starting a small business soon and we will need computers. Gateway will not be a computer brand we will consider. We also come into contact with many people and I have told anyone who will listen about what a ripoff Gateway is.
